
S.T.A.R recognises that it is not always possible or cost effective for small companies to invest in the high fees demanded for training courses from large providers, and that these companies still need to equip their managers and key staff with the skills to lead and motivate their people. With this in mind, we have been working with a range of small construction companies who are achieving Investors in People recognition, to provide some focused one-to-one coaching sessions for owners and managers to explore ways in which they can manage their time and their people more effectively.
Three specific modules have been designed to address issues that are pertinent to the construction industry, and introduce simple models and skills that enable business owners to enhance their business and develop the people that work for them:
1) Delivering Effective Appraisals
2) People and Performance Management
3) Time and Project Management (links to course outlines)
The sessions are held on-site or at the homes of the owners, and provide the flexibility to add greater or lesser emphasis to areas that are of particular importance to the person. And with fees starting from as little as £100, they are affordable too.
In addition S.T.A.R has been working in partnership with a local college to deliver Management NVQ's at Level 3 and 4 for the construction industry.
