S.T.A.R has recognized that with other training companies charging high fees for courses, many organisations who do not hold large training budgets opt for cheaper, "open" courses for their management training requirements that often result in their people attending public courses that are generic and do not take account of the implications that are specific to the manufacturing industry and therefore do not meet the need of the delegate. Results often are that the person has a "nice day out" but doesn't necessarily gain real skills that will help them perform better in the workplace.
By designing a management development programme exclusively for the organisation, S.T.A.R has been able to meet with individuals and small groups within companies for the same price as they would expect to pay on a "public" course. This allows the individuals time to explore the management theories and models in a way that is meaningful to themselves and their organisation - and with focused action planning included as part of the programme, they are able to finish the training with some clear ideas about how they can use what they have learnt in a practical way.
A manufacturing company based in Waterlooville, Hampshire, had experienced previous training failures and wanted to provide their newly appointed Manager with focused and meaningful management training. Following consulatation with HR, Works Manager and the delegates themselves, S.T.A.R designed a five-part programme comprising of half-day morning sessions that focused on "Business Planning and People Skills". link to course outline
The sessions took place on-site to allow minimal disruption to the workplace, introducing new ideas and skills and providing time for discussion about how these would work in reality in the workplace. The sessions were conducted with a gap between modules to allow time to put some of the new skills into practice and discuss success/problems at the next session.
S.T.A.R has been working on an ongoing basis with this organisation to help them achieve real results from their training investment.
